Legacy Project & Needs Assessment
The legacy project represents a way for me to leave a lasting impact during my student teaching experience at Aurora High School. By utilizing the Nebraska Comprehensive Needs Assessment, I was able to evaluate the program through several critical lenses, including educator effectiveness and student achievement. This systematic approach allowed me to move beyond surface-level observations and focus on the "Postsecondary, Career, and Civic Ready" fronts, which ensures every student is prepared for their next steps after graduation.
My analysis focused specifically on how Aurora integrates Nebraska Career Readiness Standards into daily instruction and the strength of their community partnerships. While the program already utilizes customized instructional materials that rotate based on current events, I identified opportunities to further align these resources with H3 factors—high wage, high skill, and high demand—to better serve the local workforce. By identifying these specific areas for improvement, I can develop a legacy project that not only supports the current curriculum but also strengthens relationships between the school, local industry, and the students. Ultimately, this project will bridge the gap between classroom and real-world application, ensuring that the improvements I implement are both sustainable and directly beneficial to the students' future career success.
