From April 1st through the 3rd, Grace and I visted Switzerland. Most specifically to see the famous village, Grindelwald. This village is tucked away in the Swiss Alps. All of the mountains are about 12,000 feet tall, which is about the size of some of the largest mountains in the Rockies. The highest point in the Swiss alps is 15,000 feet, which is 1,000 feet higher than the highest point of the Rockies!Â
This short trip was probably my favorite experience in Europe. We felt so safe and relaxed, and the views were more than breathtaking. We just sat in the grass in front of a mountain and stared at it for what felt like hours. It's incomprehensible.Â
Our second to last weekend, April 20th-22nd, we traveled to Rome, Italy.Â
It is easily the most incredible city I have ever been to, and it's arguably the most incredible city in the world.Â
My favorite part was visiting Vatican City (which is its own country! 🇻🇦) and going inside St. Peter's Basilica.Â
St. Peter's Basilica is the largest church in the WORLD! I was honestly sobbing at one point because it is emotionally and visually overwhelming. It's hard to comprehend how large it is, and it is SO stunning.Â
We also saw the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain -- all of which were impressive. We got to see the Roman Forum and a lot of the ancient ruins. We ended up walking over 20 miles over the weekend!Â
Another one of my favorite moments was when we rode bikes through some parks around the ruins. That might have even been second to Vatican City!
