Barcelona has La Sagrada Famlia -- The largest church in Spain and the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world! It is absolutely stunning with its unique architecture. It has been under construction for over 100 years, and was designed by the famous Gaudi.
In Spain, among other countries, they celebrate Saint George's (Sant Jordi) Day. It is a beautiful celebration based on the legend of Sant Jordi.
They decorate the streets with roses and book stands. At school, the students dress up as princesses and knights. It is tradition for boys to give girls roses, and for girls to gift books to the boys. It was a lovely day! I got to help make paper roses, as you can see in the picture! One of my favorites was the Barcelona Cathedral. It is a beautiful cathedral located near the gothic quarter that dates back to 1058! It is in the most beautiful square. When we went, there was live music and people blowing giant bubbles. It was magical!
Another one of my favorites was the Santa Maria Del Mar, which dates back to the 1300s. The inside is impressive and breathtaking. Huge columns and beautiful stained glass windows. It only costs 5 euros to enter.
