Together with Provincial Health Office and Provincial Population Office, the Provincial Youth Development Office - SIRAK Kabataan spearheads the consultation workshop for the crafting of the Manual of Operations of the Adolescent-Friendly Mobile Health Facility which will be turned over to the Provincial Government of Samar.
In the said workshop was Provincial Youth Development Officer Jhunlie Escala, SIRAK Kabataan Focal Person Ysabel Karla Aquino and Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng Sangguniang Kabataan President Ingrid Cabarriban. From the PHO and PPO, were Dr. Maribel Pedrigal and Sharon Uy. Meanwhile, representative from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office was Social Worker Reena Mae Baculpo.
Youth Sector was also represented by Catherine Wardle from Samar National School -Supreme Secondary Learner Government, Caliv Ylar from Calbayog City National High School, Arnold Abbang, SK Chairperson of Barangay 09, Catbalogan City and Angelo Amistoso, SK Chairperson of Barangay Basiao, Basey Samar. Representatives from Project Sites were also present in the said workshop like Ma. Theresa Tiu-Flores, the Local Youth Development Officer of Sta. Rita, among others.
The team helped in the crafting of the MOP, which will be the first in the country. The AFMHF which will be launched on May, is the first mobile faciity focusing on adolescent health services in the country and is part of the Joint Programme on Accelerating the Reduction of Adolescent Pregnancy in Samar and Southern Leyte, a five-year joint program funded by Korean International Agency Cooperation (KOICA) and implemented by UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO and their partners like YPEER Pilipinas.
Joined by City Youth Development Office of City of Manila represented by Mr. Avel Rivera and City of San Juan YD Officer Mr. Arbie Chua, Samar Provincial Youth Development Office - SIRAK Kabataan paid a courtesy visit to the National Youth Commission Executive Director Leah Villalon.
Discussed in the meeting was the upcoming convention of League of Youth Development Officers of the Philippines in Albay and future engagements of the organization with the Commission. Also present was RYDD Chief James Ventura who guided the team in strengthening the legal standing of the League.
For the province of Samar, PYDO-SIRAK confirms to the Office of Commissioner-At-Large Laurence Diestro and Social Marketing Division Chief Cristabeth Jacinta Madrigal its hosting of National Youth Parliament 13 for Region 8, in partnership with the City Government of Calbayog, thru the City Youth Development Office.
National Youth Commission’s Kumustahan 2.0 under NYC Mental Health Youth Hub will also run in Samar through the PLGU’s Purple Desk Program.
