This is an introductory course for students interested in public mental health (PMH). An overview of the history of public mental health, the types and functions of agencies, practices, careers, professional ethics, current trends and issues is provided.
Public health is an evolving field, that is continually changing and growing to meet the needs of our communities. This course will explore local public health agencies and allow students to gain exposure to the mental health services in our direct community, in both Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
