SalCoS is a comparative syntax workshop and the third of its kind, following LeiBieCos in Leiden 2024 and BieLeiCos in Bielefeld 2025. The -CoS workshop series is an annual event that brings together researchers in comparative syntax from across Europe and beyond. Its primary goal is to foster dialogue and collaboration among scholars. SalCoS 2026 is hosted by the Department for Linguistics of the University of Salzburg.
SalCoS will feature:
one keynote lecture: Laura Kalin (Princeton University)
two panel discussions:
invited speaker: Mark C. Baker (Rutgers University)
invited speaker: Doreen Georgi (University of Potsdam)
panel discussants: Jonathan Bobaljik (Harvard University), Jutta Hartmann (University of Bielefeld), Filipe Hisao Kobayashi (University of Salzburg)
15 presentations (à 30min + 10min Q&A) selected from submitted abstracts
7 poster presentations (with 2min lightning talks), selected from submitted abstracts
one-to-one mentoring sessions pairing senior with junior researchers
student grants: there will be some student grants (€100/each; for accepted student presentations) to help cover the registration fee and travels/accomodation.
