Love is in the air here in Salford. Love for our many different sports teams who are in action this week.

Women’s Football firsts 1 pm

After a devastating loss away to Leeds in the cup, the women’s firsts are back on home soil as they’re set to get us underway against Leeds Beckett seconds. Like Salford, Beckett is currently going through a rough patch of form losing their last 5 matches and conceding 13 from the last two. After a resilient display last week, there's good belief that Salford can pick up the three points in the quest to stay up.

Women’s Netball firsts 1:15 pm

A trip to Merseyside awaits for the netball team as they take on the Uni of Liverpool's fourths. It’s a three-horse race at the top of the table with Salford leading the rankings with a game advantage. Liverpool is one of those other three however and a win could decide the title. Salford are set to play their final league match at home to Edge Hill on the 28th so a win today could catapult them even further away from the other teams.

Women’s Hockey firsts 1pm

The Salford ladies will be on the road to Keele who have had a perfect start winning all six of their matches. Having played two more than the two below them a win today could elevate the ladies and kill any doubts of being caught up on.

Men’s Football seconds 2 pm

Where do we start with the men’s seconds? With their perfect league run still intact all signs allude towards their last league match against LJMU sixths being the one that’ll decide the title. But they’ve still got to beat what's in front of them and that is a trip to Bolton to face their firsts. Currently bottom of the table, Bolton will be hoping to cause an upset on the university's best performing sports team this season.

Men’s hockey firsts 3 pm

Losing on penalties to Newcastle in the cup last week, the men’s hockey has shown massive improvements since the start of this semester. After two commanding wins in league action, Salford have got to back their chances against Manchester Met’s seconds who also bowed out of the cup last week to league leaders UCLan Firsts.

Men’s Football firsts 3:30 pm

After two impressive results on the bounce, the men’s firsts will hope to end their season strong as they face head of the table LJMU firsts. They may have played fewer games than every other side in the league but they still occupy the pole position not dropping a single point. Saford know they’ll have their work cut out for them but with the chance to finish the campaign with a statement victory, morale will be high going into this one.

Men’s Rugby (U) firsts 6pm

If you get down to the 3G for 6 you’ll get to witness Salford Rugby Union take on Man Mets thirds. Salford have struggled this season and looks to stay in the division for next year so a big result against a team only 3 positions off them could strengthen their survival odds.

Men’s basketball firsts 7 pm

Still in pursuit of promotion, Salford welcomes Manchester Met seconds who are currently separated by three positions. The opposition is currently on a two match win streak with a commanding win at the end of last month against Chester. Hot on the trail of Salford is Sheffield Hallam Firsts who host Liverpool today at 6:30 pm. Both sides know that any points dropped could cost them the title so expect the boys to be up for it.

Live coverage of the match will be available on Shock Radio.
