Community engagement is a central part of the Salem Digital Equity Planning process. Here is our approach to community outreach and centering the voices of community members most impacted by the digital divide.
Purpose:
Understand the current conditions and needs for digital access among the most vulnerable community members.
Goals:
Engage with at least 100 residents to incorporate the lived experiences of Salem residents most impacted by the digital divide into the plan.
Identify existing service providing organizations and other digital equity community assets around Salem.
Meet people and organizations where they are, rather than asking the most vulnerable community members to adhere to governments' schedules
Aim to improve transparency and accessibility of governement services so that residents can make their voices heard.
