We love our neighborhood. We watch out for one another, rapidly share important information, and devote time to make the community safer for our families and friends. Safer GANC is about improving safety through security initiatives and advocacy.
A qualified private security patrol is now monitoring our neighborhood, addressing suspicious behavior, and respond to neighbor-reported security threats. The patrol has already encountered and deterred multiple suspicious activities.
License-plate reading cameras will automatically monitor cars entering our neighborhood around the clock and immediately report suspect vehicles. Police will use the reports to find and apprehend criminals entering our neighborhood.
We are using the power of citizenship in the neighborhood to lobby city officials, give input at city meetings, and report back to neighbors on city actions to improve our security.
The more neighbors that contribute, the stronger our security will be and the less it will cost for each household.
Join us by emailing safergancboard@googlegroups.com — the neighbors who are putting in their own personal time to make these improvements happen.
SAFER GANC is a small-scale, low-overhead nonprofit corporation needed to collect neighbor funding for these programs, and manage vendors that will give us greater security.
Private security patrol and Flock license-plate cameras for the GANC neighborhood can only be funded by contributions from neighbors. Contracting for these services requires a legal entity to hold those funds in a bank account, complete the patrol and Flock contracts, and manage oversight. To fulfill these needs, we are creating a neighborhood nonprofit corporation, Safer GANC.
Neighbors are donating their time and expertise to accomplish as much of the setup as possible while keeping the overhead to a minimum, but some fees are unavoidable. We have registered the name, obtaining a registered agent, filed the Articles of Incorporation and created bylaws.
None of the neighbors spending time to form this nonprofit are being paid, and, aside from the few filing fees to form the nonprofit, all contributions go towards paying vendors for the security measures being implemented.
Safer GANC is a nonprofit 501c4, which is different from a charitable (501c3) organization. Unlike a charity, Safer GANC will provide services of value to members and will engage local government leaders and advocate to get the most from our city and county governments. We are working to adhere to IRS regulations governing nonprofit corporations and are applying for nonprofit status with the IRS.
