Purpose: To push defense backward and create space for the trailing F3 , who is in support filling the middle ice lane.
Execution: F1 enters the zone wide with the puck and drives down the boards. F2 crosses the blueline simultaneously with F1, but sprints to the far back post. F3 may be a step or so behind, and has the job to fill the lane F2 created near the high slot. When executed by the forward group the shot comes from the F3 from a dangerous scoring area.
Purpose: To cause a confusing 2 on 1 decision for the defensemen, ideally creating open ice in the middle lane.
Execution: F1 enters the offensive zone with speed from middle ice. F1 then cuts toward the wall to find support from the near F2. F3 is hustling to join the rush from the weak side and sprints toward the net. Finally, F1 (delay) & F2 cross (support), with F1 reading the defense can leave the puck when the D is committed to the puck carrier OR continue to drive wide if holding the middle ice.
Purpose: To turn the defense around when holding tight gaps.
Execution: F1 has support but running out of room because of a good gap from the opposing defensemen. Using the wall, a well placed chip will force the defense to react, turning his back to the middle ice and chasing a loose puck. If placed and timed well with F2, the race should be easily won. All the while F3 is putting pressure attacking the net.
