Around June of 2022 I began working on a personal project to explore and prototype a 2D Turn Based Tactics game inspired by the Fire Emblem franchise.
I developed the core gameplay systems for grid based combat with unique characters that have unique abilities. The idea for the prototype was inspired by a Dungeons & Dragons campaign that I have played in with several friends since 2019. The idea was to re-create the characters and the story of the campaign in a video game format.
Using GitHub and Unity, I was able to develop a functional prototype where the player could battle against simple enemy AI. The prototype had a complex combat system that allowed for custom character stats and abilities, equip-able items that can effect stats, grant new abilities and apply various effects to a unit. You could select which units you wanted to bring into certain battles.
