There is always something fun happening at Rutherford Elementary! We have an amazing staff, involved parents, and a thriving community of supporters. It takes a lot of effort and active volunteers to ensure our students have what they need to succeed and have fun, and that our teachers and classrooms are supported. Check out some of the ways you can get involved.
It takes a village to host all of the fun events for our families, please consider volunteering some of your time at an upcoming event to ensure we can complete all of the fun activities we have planned!
Current Opportunities:
PTA meetings are a great way to meet other parents and stay in the loop about Rutherford. Come hear updates and insights from the PTA board, committee chairs and our school principal Dr. Krebs. We review current spending and offer a forum for parents and staff to express new ideas or concerns.
The front gardens are maintained by The Rutherford PTA Grounds & Garden Committee and need more help to keeping our gardens beautiful and welcoming.
No tools or expertise in gardening required. Time commitment is minimal and flexible. Adults, kids, teachers and staff are all encouraged to help!
Contact Nicole Heggernes to join the crew, the beauty of our school grounds needs us all to keep thriving!
Many families look for ways to support their child's classroom directly. Amazon Wishlist's are a great way to show support to the class of your choosing and it will be shipped directly to Rutherford.
Ruthie's (short for Rutherford) Care Closet was a vision of Rutherford teachers to provide a safe space for all students that may not have easy access to things like winter gear, snacks, deodorant, etc. Ruthie's is a place for all students to find items that support their personal care needs and run 100% on donations.
Supporting Ruthie's is just one way that we can help children to be comfortable, content, and confident enough to be able to learn.

For the safety of the students at Rutherford Elementary, District 834 requires all volunteers to complete a background check. For information about completing your background check, visit the Stillwater Area Public Schools website.
The background check process can take up to a week to complete, so register now to make sure you don’t miss out on any volunteer opportunities. Background checks are simple to complete and FREE! Background checks must be renewed every four years. If you are uncertain about when your background check will expire, please contact the school secretary, Mary Johnson
