National Weather Service Skywarn Training coming to Rutherford County in November!
On Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 9 AM, the Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency and Amateur Radio Emergency Service will host a special, in-person Skywarn Level 1 Training Program from the National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Ryan Husted. Ryan has been with the NWS for over 17 years and will help train interested individuals on severe weather spotting and reporting.
Ryan will discuss who the National Weather Service is, explain our unique Tennessee severe weather climatology, educate attendees on recognizing and understanding storm cloud and radar features associated with severe weather, discuss severe weather safety and how to report to the National Weather Service.
The program will last approximately 1.5 hours.
Those interested in becoming weather spotters or are currently spotters wanting to have a refresher course are encouraged to attend this training. Rutherford County has had plenty of severe weather and tornadoes recently and is in need of trained weather spotters to help provide ground truth reports to the National Weather Service.
Please mark your calendar for this special, in person, presentation by our local National Weather Service office in Nashville at the Rutherford County EOC and register online as seating is limited. Use the link above to register
