About the Foundation

The Island Conservation Foundation Inc. (ICFI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of island ecosystems.

The foundation focuses on forest restoration, mangrove conservation, biodiversity protection, and climate change mitigation through science-based and community-driven approaches.

By integrating research, field implementation, and local partnerships, ICFI aims to create measurable environmental impact while supporting sustainable livelihoods in island communities.

Founder and Executive Director

Dr. Ruffy M. Rodrigo
Dr. Rodrigo is an Associate Professor in Forest Science and a researcher specializing in forest conservation, disturbance ecology, biomass and carbon dynamics, and sustainable forest management.

Through ICFI, he leads initiatives that bridge scientific research with on-the-ground conservation, connecting local communities with national and international partners.

Flagship Program

🌿 CARE-Biliran

CARE-Biliran (Conservation and Rehabilitation of Ecosystems) is the flagship program of ICF, focusing on community-based conservation in Biliran Island, Philippines.

The program integrates mangrove restoration, forest rehabilitation, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood support for local communities.
