Keywords: Urban Heat Island, Energy Resilience
This project aims to address the pressing urban issue of energy resilience due to high energy consumption and cooling energy loads in buildings located in heat-island area. Urban areas contain more heat-retaining surfaces than nearby rural areas and suburbs, causing buildings to require more cooling energy and exposing people to greater heat stress during heat events. This project develops a BIM-digital twin platform as a testbed that enables stakeholders to simulate design interventions to identify cooling load bottlenecks in the building, and data-driven decision making through economic (Swinburn University expertise) and carbon assessment models
