The VIII International Rubiaceae and Gentianales Conference was held in San Ignacio, Misiones, Argentina on 25–27 October 2023. It was organised by Instituto de Botánica del Nordeste and involved Roberto Salas, Hector Keller, Mariela Nuñez Florentin, and Javier E. Florentín.

The conference was organised almost five years after the last meeting due to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the local economic difficulties in Argentina.
