9/17/25 - Starting in October the club meetings will be moving to the Town Hall.  

8/2//25 - Due to the holiday, this months club meeting will be moved to Tuesday September 9th at the flying field. Hope to see you all there.

6/30/25 - CANCELLED!! Due to the fire at the Knutson shop the float fly has been cancelled

5/5/25 - The May RRAMS Club Meeting will held at the Flying Field. 

3/27/25 - The April RRAMS Club Meeting date is moved from April 1st to April 8th due to elections being held at the Turtle Townhall. See you at 6:00pm on Tuesday April 8th.

12/19/23 - We will be having a January Meeting at the Town Hall on January 2nd at 6pm. 

11/16/23 - Due to a conflict with the township the December RRAMS Meeting with be held on MONDAY Dec 4th at the same time (6pm). Please spread the word. Thanks! 

7/3/23 - Just a reminder that the July meeting has been rescheduled to July 11th due to the holiday. Also apparel orders must be in by July 12th so please bring your orders to the meeting. 

6/17/23 - The Pat Ryder Memorial Fun Fly was a great success with 28 registered pilots. Pat blessed us with perfect weather and lots of flying was done.  

4/20/22 - The Rock River Aero Modelers celebrate 75 years! The AMA and district VP Randy Gibson presented the club with the official AMA certificate.  See the club History page for more info.   

3/31/22 - Due to the poor weather conditions for Saturday the trail cleanup project around the flying field has been postponed. Thank you for those that had planned to help out. 

12/19/22 - 2023 Events have been added to the Events section

11/1/22 - Huge Congratulations to our very own Larry Nitz who was presented with the Carl Goldberg Award. This is a very special award that is only given our to 5 individuals each year. The award was presented to Larry by our AMA district Vice President Randy Gibson.  See more:  Click here 

9/30/22 - Monthly meetings will now be moved to the Town Hall starting with the October meeting (10/4)

8/3/22 - The Bridge in Shopiere is out till late October. Please see the Flying Field page for alternative routes

7/28/22 - The Field Rules have been updated. The new section is Flightline Operations and covers flying with multiple planes in the air. 

6/27/22 - Vintage Pilot Fun Fly video added to the Event page. Thanks to all those who participated. Pat would have been proud!

5/5/22 - New Event Calendar page has been added. Includes all club and flying events in the area. It is located under the Events Menu.

3/23/22 - Members - Due to the township building being used on Tuesday April 5th for voting we are moving the April Meeting to Tuesday April 12th. See you then! 

1/21/22 - The Flying Circus Event information and flyer have been posted under the event section.

12/30/21 - It looks like we will begin the New Year the same way we did last year!  Due to the recent uptick in Covid cases, We have decided to cancel meetings for January, February and March.  The health of our membership is our primary concern.  We will revisit the need for meetings prior to the April meeting and communicate this information, as well as any issues or concerns that may arise, via emails and newsletters.

During this time please feel free to reach out to any of the board members with any questions.

11/23/21 - The Rock River Aero Modelers has received notification from the AMA that we are now an AMA Leader Club! Thanks to all the members and to the AMA for the recognition.

10/22/21 - Starting  with the November meeting we now will be meeting at the Turtle Town Hall at 6pm.  

9/24/21 - The 6th Annual Flying Circus Fun Fly is still on for tomorrow. Airplanes, Helis, and Drone racing. It may be a bit breezy in the early afternoon but the morning and late afternoon/evening look great. If it gets too windy to fly, find something to buy at the swap tent, grab lunch or play on the simulator. Don't forget to hang around for the night fly once the sun goes down. It's gonna be a great day!!

6/15/21 - New information has been added to the Flying Circus page. We will have night flying Sat night and Open house on Sunday. See the page HERE 

6/5/21 - Club members are needed to Volunteer for the Janesville Warbird Weekend. Please contact Jason at jah1973@comcast.net if you would like to volunteer. 

6/1/21 - Order your club apparel now!! Fill out the order form located here: Club Apparel  Orders must be placed by the end of June. 

4/23/21 - Just a reminder the May meeting will be at the field!! We are not requiring masks but wear them at your discretion.  However lets be safe and respectful of others and utilize social distancing. We have lots of space at the field. 

12/20/20 - The 6th Flying Circus date has been official set. September 25th 2021. It promises to be better than ever!! See the Events page for details.

10/21/20 - Phase 1 of the runway project is completed. We have a new base layer or dirt, sand, and gravel. We are going to wait till Spring to lay the new mat. We will re roll the runway in the spring prior to installation to ensure it is level. Look for pics on the Field Info page and in our Facebook group page. 

9/20/20 - As we enter Fall (boo!!) the monthly club meetings will be moving indoors at the Town Hall starting in October. Please Please respect social distancing guidelines for being indoors by wearing a mask and as much as possible maintain a 6 foot distance from each other. 

8/4/20 - To all RRAMS members - there will be a August 4th club meeting. Meeting is at the field at 6pm. For the safety of all other members face masks will be required. Thank you. 

7/6/20 - Due to the heat index and atrocious comfort level and Covid-19 rules the July 7th meeting of the Rock River Aero Modeling club is cancelled. Stay safe and hydrated everyone. 

6/19/20 - After lots or research of what we have to do in the state of WI and Rock County to ensure safety for public events we have decided to cancel this years Flying Circus Fun Fly. We feel that we "could" do it but the risks and the amount of changes remove a lot of the fun factor that the event is supposed to be. We are already started planning and locking in things for next year it will be awesome. Make plans to be there!! 

5/27/20 -  The recent changes in the Covid-19 guidelines make it possible for our club to resume monthly meetings. Your club officers have scheduled a meeting for Tuesday June 2nd at 6:00 PM at the field. We will respect CDC guidelines for social distancing and wearing masks for the meeting. Those guidelines include:

1. All members must wear a mask.

2. We will arrange seating so we can maintain the 6’ spacing.

3. Gloves are recommended but that will be up to the individual member.

4. We will try to stay within the 25 person meeting limit. We typically have 15-18 members at most meetings. If we exceed 25 members we will be glad for the turnout and welcome you. Just observe the first 3 guidelines.

We look forward to getting together again.

4/27/2020 - The 2nd annual Vintage Pilots Fly in scheduled for June 27th has been cancelled. It will not be rescheduled until 2021. Since our participants are of the most vulnerable to the Covid-19 pandemic we feel that for the safety of members and guests, that this is the most prudent course of action. Hope to see everybody in 2021.

4/17/2020 -  We just received notification that the Janesville Warbird Weekend full scale airshow has been cancelled. Please support them in 2021!! 

3/17/2020 -  Due to the current situation with the Covid 19 (Coronavirus) the April meeting has been cancelled. The Field is open for flying. Please observe the recommendations regarding spacing and group sizes as well as contact with surfaces and other people. Thanks everyone and please be safe.

10/23/19 - THIS SATURDAY 10/26 - Come join us for an open day of flying before winter sets in!! As long as you are a current AMA member come fly at the RRAMs field and we will provide lunch for free!! Our Flying Circus event was cut short due to rain and we would like make up for it with free flying and food. Lunch will be at noon and flying is open all day. 8AM till whenever you want. 

10/19/19 - Thanks for the Town of Turtle Fire Department for assisting us in burning all the overgrowth of brush behind our runway. Thanks to the volunteers who assisted as well.

9/23/19 - The October meeting will be the start of our winter meetings. They will be at the Town Hall (6916 S. County Road J Town of Turtle, WI 53511) instead of the field.

7/25/19 - More updates to the field! We have added a 40' storage container for mower and field storage. Also we now have a new set of aluminum bleachers for people sit and spectate.

7/25/19 - We have created a Facebook "group" within our Facebook page. This allows people to post pictures and videos to the group. 

5/3/19 - May meeting will be at the Flying Field!!

3/19/19 - Because of April elections the club meeting will be moved to April 9th at the Town Hall.

2/5/19 - Due to the weather forecast for freezing rain for this evening, tonight’s meeting is canceled. The next meeting date is March 5th. See you there. 

1/15/19 - The RRAMs club is proud to announce the First Annual Vintage Pilots Fun Fly. Want to have a relaxing day of flying with friends and share stories? Are you over 62? See the flyer click here

1/8/19 - The Rock River Aero Modelers Society (RRAMS) will be attending the Janesville Warbird Weekend 2019 as a vendor. The event is July 19th - July 21st. We will have several model aircraft on display. RRAMs members will be present to answer questions about model building, flying, and their club. 12/19/18 - Due to the New Years Holiday we will be moving the January club meeting to the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The meeting will be Jan 8th at 7pm.

11/21/18 - SAVE THE DATE!! 9/21/19 is official and will be our 5th Annual Flying Circus Fun Fly. Stay tuned for more info soon.

10/1/18 - RRAMS MEMBERS MEETING CHANGES: The Tuesday night meeting (10/2) is canceled because of floor waxing at the Town Hall. We will meet the 2nd Tuesday Oct. 9th at 7:00 PM. Also, the November meeting is moved to the 2nd Tuesday due to elections on the 1st Tuesday. Again, 7:00 PM on November 6th. 

10/1/18 - Winter meetings have begun. The October meeting will be head at the Town Hall building just down the street from the field. 

7/26/18 - New runway is complete, we have added length and width!! Pictures coming soon!! 

6/25/18 - July Meeting DATE CHANGE. To avoid conflict with the July 4th holiday the July meeting will be moved to July 10th at the flying field. Thank you!

5/11/2018 - The Rock River Aero Modelers have been selected to be a recipient of an AMA Field Improvement Grant. The Grant was one of 38 given out this year. We appreciate the support of the AMA to help continue to improve our flying site for our members. A big thank you to our Treasurer, Larry Nitz, for filling out all the paperwork and working with the AMA to make this happen. To see the full AMA Blog post CLICK HERE 

4/12/18 - The May Meeting will be held at the Flying Field. 

2/8/18 - Spring 2017 projects have been decided. We are going to add 15' of width and 150' of length to the main runway. We are also going to look at add some additional shelter to provide some shade.

11/8/17 - Local Janesville Access Television posted a video from the 2017 Fly In. We appreciate their interest and hope to have them back next year. Here is the video: 

10/18/17 - Winter club meetings are in effect and will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at the Township Town Hall, 6916 S Co Rd J, Beloit, WI 53511. Located just south of the flying field. 

10/11/17 - Our 2017 Fun Fly was September 23, 2017 and although it was extremely hot a good time was had by all. We had 3 different flying areas going on at the same time. On the main runway we had aircraft from small micro planes up to 120" giant scale aircraft. On the south end of the field we had the 815 FPV Club setup a MultiGP drone racing course. They did races and demos for interested people. On the north end of the field we had helicopter flying and aerobatic demos. Already looking forward to next year!! 

6/4/17 - Rock River Aero Modelers were on hand for the grand opening of the Milton public library. The club was on hand for demos and donated airplanes to hang inside the library. The club also has donated a RealFlight flight simulator for the kids (and I am sure a few adults) to experience the joys of RC Flight.
