Coach Valadez is in his first season with the Royal Cross Country Team. He has been the Head Track and Field Coach at Royal High School for the past 8 years, and as an Assistant Coach for 3 seasons prior. Coach Valadez was also an Assistant/Hurdles Coach at University City HS (San Diego), Chaminade HS (Chatsworth) and Notre Dame HS (Sherman Oaks).
Coach Valadez's running career began with the Las Virgenes Track Club (now United Track Club). He ran for Agoura High School's Cross Country and Track and Field Teams, specializing the the 110m Hurdles and the 300m Hurdles. Coach Valadez was part of the UCSD Track and Field Team for a Season.
Coach Mogg as a third year Royal High Cross Country coach brings extensive experience as both a runner and coach. Being primarily a middle distance runner, he received the most improved XC award while at Cal State University, Los Angeles starting as the 7th man in his freshman year to improve to become the 4th man in his senior year. In track, he was All Conference 2 years in a row in the 800 meter run. He has a wide range of personal best with 48.8 in the 400 meters, 1:51 800 meters, 4:09 mile, 14:53 5000 meters and 30:44 10k. As a Masters runner, he won 9 National Championships in the 800, 1500, 4X400 and 4X800 relay events. He ran 1:56 800m and 4:20 mile as a 40 year old and broke 2 minutes in the 800 for the final time at age 44. He has coached track and cross country for over 30 years at the youth, high school and master’s level at various times in his coaching career. His accomplishments as a youth coach include several girls running under 5 minutes and boys under 4:30 for 1500 meters, one girl who ran 10:07 in the 3000 meters and would go on t high school to win multiple
California state titles. Coach Mogg’s knowledge and experience has been a great complement to the Royal Cross Country program.
