ROYAL CROSS COUNTRY

Welcome to the Royal XC Family

PHILOSOPHY

Royal ‘s philosophy is developing a young person physically, mentally and morally.

 1.    Physically: Our goal is to build endurance, strength and speed.

 2.    Mentally: Competitive spirit, responsibility towards training and the enjoyment of racing.

 3.    Morally: Royal looks for a caring attitude towards all members of the XC team and the development of the quiet pride of success. Being a fair competitor (racing tactics) towards other schools is an important concept to nurture.

Brett Darrington has helped out numerous sports programs in the region. He has been putting Royal runners back together since I met Brett in the early 2000's. Being a runner and competitor himself, Brett understands that taking long periods of time off for an injury is not an option. He has continually helped many of my athletes get back to the trails training in the shortest amount of time possible. Brett takes the time to determine the injury, explain to the athlete why the injury most likely occurred, treats the injury and the most important, assigning strengthening exercises to keep the injury from reoccurring. Brett accepts most major insurance companies. If insurance is not an option, he has a affordable "walk-in" price.

athlete of the month

angus fitzgerald

This year the Royal Boys Cross Country Team has achieved great success, taking home a runner-up spot in CIF Southern Section D3. While this is a team effort of 7 driven student-athletes, Angus has been the catalyst for this year's team dynamics and accolades. His unshatterable belief in the team and in his own abilities, has taken the team to the upper echelon of our sport. Angus has been a great team co-captain, taking a leadership role while maintaining a “quiet pride of success. Along with a 4.29 GPA, Angus represents the hard working student-athletes we have here at Royal.
