Animation Overview
Animation Overview
My animation research will be split into 8 sections. These sections are Animation principles, Audio research, Lip sync methods, Acting principles, Rendering methods,Anatomy Possible rigs and workflows.
these topics will provide me with effective knowledge and skills to help me produce my final product.
Animation principles reflection
Animation principles research has been highly effective as it has provided me with crucial information on the 12 principles of animation to help me make sure my animations will be of high quality. In addition to this it has helped me identify where i can implement each of the principles into my work to make sure i am using them effectively. overall, i am extremely pleased with the new knowledge this research has provided me as it will ensure i implement the principles of animation effectively and accurately into each of the animation styles i produce.
Originally, i planned to use Audio research to find an audio that has a lot of emotions as i thought this would be the most effective for my animation. This quickly changed the more research i conducted because i found that it would be more effective to use an audio with a handful of emotions to make sure i can create a high quality animation by focusing on a couple of main emotions and movements. What's more, I Am also pleased with this research as i found the website 11 second club which includes tips and tricks (such as how to act out a shot and the best techniques when animating subtle body and facial movements.) i can use as i progress through the research stage and carry with as i start production.
Reflecting on the lip sync area of my research i believe this to be extremely successful. As it has educated me on effective techniques i can use in my animations to make sure they are of high quality. This is in stark contrast to when i started this section and i wasn't sure on how to animate lips to an audio but as i progressed through this section my knowledge and idea of how to do lip sync effectively grew. Furthermore, i achieved my aim with this section of research as i have now developed knowledge on what to do and not to do when animating lip sync.
Acting principles was a section which at first i wasn't confident with as i wasn't certain on what techniques would be the most effective for a reference video. Yet as i progressed through this section of research i developed knowledge on topics such as sub text, character development and planning. These are aspects that i now feel confident with and will help me create an effective reference video, that i can use to be efficient during the production stage of this project. Ultimately, i am pleased with the knowledge i have gathered on acting principles as i am now prepared for pre-production where i will produce a reference video i can use to create my animations.
Before starting rendering methods research i had limited knowledge on methods of presenting my work to at an industry standard level. This made my primary aim for this area of research to find ways of presenting work by looking at a range of portfolios from other animators and artists. I achieved this goal effectively as it gave me insight into a range of methods i can use to present my work for my final renders. Ultimately, i have gained valuable knowledge from conducting this research as i now understand different ways to present my animations effectively.
Anatomy, at first was an overwhelming section of research as it includes a range of muscles with a varied amount of functions and understanding how they work off and with each other was very complex. Yet as i progressed through this research my knowledge on this subject developed and provided me with knowledge on the muscles that will allow me to produce animations that are natural and organic, allowing my final animations to be of higher quality. To summarise, i am pleased with the information and knowledge i have gained from this research as it will allow me to be more proficient during the production stage when i start to create my animations, as i know have an understanding of how the functions of the muscles in the face and body and how they work with each other.
To reflect upon possible rigs research, it was very useful for me as it allowed me to find 3 different rigs that fit the styles of animation i plan to produce. Each rig has a good range of controllers that will allow me to animate them proficiently and help me produce a high quality final animation. To begin with i planned to use this research to find really detailed rigs that included lots of controllers for little tweaks, but i gathered more information my plan changed. I quickly changed my plans as i realized it would be more beneficial for me to gather simpler rigs that allow me to focus more on the primary animation further improving my animation skills. Rather than spend time on small detail that have little to no impact on the final animation. In addition, this research has taught me what to look for when i am searching for a rig to use in a project. TO conclude, the rigs i have gathered will help me be effective and efficient during the production stage of my FEP, this will make sure i produce a high quality final animation for this project.
Before starting the workflows section of research i wasn't sure which workflow would be the most effective for me to use. Yet as i progressed through this section of research i educated myself on a range of workflows that will help me be efficient during the production stage. I am pleased to have found the pose to pose workflow that provides me with the information to produce effective and high quality animations. In addition, this research effectively enhanced my knowledge on how i can improve the pose to pose workflow, by implementing aspects such as animation layers and reference videos into the pose to pose workflow i can achieve this. Overall, i am satisfied with the information i gained from this section of research as it will heavily influence my effectiveness during production to make sure i produce a high quality animation.
