Final Animation
Click here to see how i set up each render and the adjustments i made during post processing.
The video above showcases the process of me going putting my renders together to produce a few presentation styles. My main focus as this stage was ensuring the audio was in time with my animation and each presentation method was done accurately by including the key aspects of each presentation style such as include my contact information in the show reel or placing my animations on one screen in a clear way. Additionally, this process has allowed me to practice my skills within premiere pro (an industry standard software) that i am pleased with and can utilize in future projects.
Presentation comparison
Below i will be listing 3 presentation methods i will be trying for my animations. Along with positives and negatives of each style. After analyzing each method i will be conducting a survey to gain additional feedback from my peers and tutors. This will aid me in my final verdict on which presentation method i will use to showcase my animations.
Individual
Above is the first style of presentation i produced. Being the individual style, where each animation is in separate video. Some positives to this method are that it makes it easier to receive more specific feedback on key areas of animation and this method allows me to clearly showcase each angle clearly with no other distractions on the screen. Yet some negatives this this method include not being the most professional way to showcase animations and can be time consuming to watch as they are all separate, possibly leading to employers or others losing interest and not watching your work.
Show reel
Here is the second method of presentation i produced. Being a show reel format, this style includes and intro screen, the software logo and finishing with my contact info and a link to my art-station where people can find my work. The positives to this method include being an industry standard way to showcase animations, it is an time efficient way of showcasing animations as they are all in one place and it allows to clearly showcase my work all in one place. Some negatives to this method include it being harder to update with new work sue to the lengthy process and it can lead to confusion on the context of each animation due to the fast paced and unlabeled / described nature of a showreel.
Animations together
Here is the third method of presentation i produced. Being my animation together on one screen. The positives to this method are that it clearly shows of my animation in one place, people can quickly review my animations as they are all in one place and ensures the context is clear and people understand what the aim of each animation is. Some negatives to this method include being cluttered and confusing, it can look unpolished if not put together cleanly and its harder to highlight the specific strengths and weaknesses of each animation as there is a lot to happening on one screen.
Survey Results:
Above are the results from the survey i conducted, with the show-reel being the most preferred presentation method among my peers and tutors. While the show reel was the most popular people also praised the other methods. They mentioned how the individual method allows for easy access to the specific animations they want to watch and how the together method is a good way of showing all the angles together. People preferred the show reel method due to how clearly they could see each piece of work, avoids confusion by being to overcrowded. Additionally, they mentioned how a show-reel is an industry standard practice and the different angles of my animation allowed them to see my animation from a range of perspectives.
Comparison verdict:
After considering both the positives and negatives of each method and incorporating feedback into my thinking, i have decided to choose the show reel as the best way to present my animations. I believe this to be the most clear and efficient way to showcase my animations as it clearly showcases all my animation in a quick and professional manor. Additionally, this method of presentation is an industry standard method to showcase animations. Practicing with this method now allows me to gain useful experience i can use in future project and employment.
Finally i put my animations on art station, allowing me to easily showcase my animations in the future in a professional way.
Reflection / evaluation on Final product
Overall, i am pleased with my final animation and how i have presented it. I believe my animation showcases a good range of animation principles such as anticipation, follow through and squash and stretch making my animation feel of high quality. While i believe my anthropomorphic animation is better than my stylised, due to some issues i faced during production and how my skills were improved during production of my anthropomorphic animation, i still believe that both of my animation demonstrate a good lip sync that reflect the audio, along with gestures that portray emotions effectively. Furthermore, i am pleased the showreel format i decided to present my animation in after i considered both the positives and negatives with additional peer feedback to aid me in my decision. A showreel allows for a clear, quick and professional way of showcasing my work on my artstation portfolio and to future education or employers. Finally, the area i am most pleased with is how my skills have developed throughout this project. At the start of this project i wasn't one hundred percent confident in my skills as animator, while i know i can still improve my animation, this project has provided me with the time to develop a deeper understanding of how to create an animation and build a new sense of resilience when it comes to pushing my animation to the highest quality possible.
