Training
Training is essential to safe and effective Search and Rescue operations. Rosebud County Search and Rescue (RCSAR) volunteers train regularly to maintain the skills needed to support law enforcement during emergency incidents.
All training supports our mission to assist the Rosebud County Sheriff’s Office during Search and Rescue operations.
Training Focus
Our training program emphasizes the core skills required for Search and Rescue response, including:
Land navigation and GPS use
Search techniques and field operations
Radio communications
Safety and risk management
Incident Command System (ICS) fundamentals
Basic first aid and patient support
Training is designed to prepare volunteers to operate safely in rural and wilderness environments common to Rosebud County, Montana.
Readiness & Safety
Search and Rescue operations often involve difficult terrain, limited access, and extreme weather conditions. Ongoing training helps ensure our volunteers can respond effectively while prioritizing team safety, public safety, and coordination with law enforcement.
Law Enforcement Coordination
All Search and Rescue responses are coordinated through the Rosebud County Sheriff’s Department. Training is conducted to support established Search and Rescue procedures and the Incident Command System used during activations.
We do not self‑deploy.
