Rescue Animals
Being a rescue ranch, we naturally rescue animals! Our animals come from a variety of locations. Many of them are posted on various networking social media sites helping place unwanted farm animals. Some of our animals are brought to local shelters before landing placement with us. We strive to give our animals the best home with lots of enrichment and love. Despite having a large space and huge hearts, we regularly have to turn away requests to take on more animals. There are SO MANY needing homes. Please consider adopting farm animals in the future if you can.
Promote Veganism
Many of our animals would not need homes, or would not suffer as they have, if veganism were the way of the world. We strongly feel that animals are FRIENDS, NOT FOOD, and as such practice and promote a vegan lifestyle. We encourage those interested to check out some of the below resources on veganism. There are many reasons to consider going vegan, and we want to support those considering the transition in a positive, helpful way.
Educate the Public
The above picture is before and after photo of one of our hens, Tecteun. The top picture is the day she was liberated from a factory farm. The bottom picture is 6 weeks later after living a happy life on our farm. Although eggs might seem like a harmless animal product to consume, the egg industry is deplorable, often trimming beaks of baby birds, cramming them in to feces riddled cages, and killing most birds before they turn 2 years of age because they aren't producing enough eggs anymore to be profitable. Most people do not know these things about the food animal industry, and we hope to educate people in the realities of the horrors these animals experience. We hope through education people will make the more informed decision to adopt a vegan lifestyle and stop contributing to animal suffering. More resources on the food animal industry can be found below.
Collaborate with the Local Rescue Community
Living in Northern California we are quite lucky to be in an area with many like-minded, animal-loving vegans. There are numerous other rescues in the area that have been providing safe havens for rescued farm animals for years, and we look forward to working with them in outreach to the public and in networking to find the best home for various rescues. Also, California has its environmental risks including wildfires and floods. We hope by joining the community we can work with other local rescues to provide temporary safe haven from environmental disasters if needed.
