Matthew is a secondary social studies teacher with Union County Public Schools, located in the Charlotte area of North Carolina. In addition to teaching, he leads professional development initiatives in the areas of student engagement and PLCs, while also serving as a coach for beginning teachers. He holds a B.A. in History from UNC Charlotte as well as an M.Ed. in Adult Education from NC State University.
Matthew is currently researching teacher retention and school district recruitment practices.
Betsy currently works for the Teacher Residency Program in her school district, supporting new teachers in earning their state teaching license. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Greensboro College, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University, and her National Board Certification in Early Childhood. She is also certified in AIG education.
Betsy is currently researching the lived experiences of participants in a Teacher Residency Program.
Bradi currently works as a third-grade teacher in South Carolina. She leads grade-level and school-wide PLC meetings and guides teams through data-driven instructional conversations. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and an MAT in Elementary Education from Clemson University.
Bradi is currently researching the impact of Mastery Learning models of intervention on student achievement.
Brice currently serves as the Vice-President of Teaching and Learning at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC. She has served in several instructional capacities, including Kindergarten teacher, Early Childhood Instructor, and as the Dean for the School of Academics and Educational Opportunities. Brice holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Elementary Education from Meredith College and a Master’s degree in Birth to Kindergarten and Elementary Education from Lenoir Rhyne University.
All of the authors are candidates pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb University.
