St Muredach Cathedral, Ballina

Rooney & McConville were appointed to prepare an initial report on the liturgical and fabric refurbishment of St Muredach's Cathedral in anticipation of its bicentennial celebration. The report comprised recommendations for conservation, and for liturgical re-ordering.

Recommendations for conservation centered on repairs to the roof, conservation of the stone walls, and refurbishment of leaded glass windows.

The liturgical analysis looked in detail as to how it should be re-ordered to improve participation by the community in a post-Covid era.

Liturgical analysis considered the uniqueness of a cathedral,

where the ritual action must be exemplary.
