Air your winter lungs with a walk from Butt's Green, Lockerley (grid reference SU 301262) looping up towards Dean Hill and back. Optional lunch at the Mill Arms afterwards.

The 6 mile walk begins at 10.30am from Arlebury Car Park, Recreation Centre, The Avenue, New Alresford (SO24 9EP) (cost £2 per car). It begins from the Sports field to the river Arle’s south side. Following the river and crossing it, a road – Oxdrove Way – is reached. Turning off it leads to Old Alresford. At Manor Farm the uphill path goes to Abbotstone and then on to Oxdrove Way. From there Wayfarer’s Walk proceeds to Watercress way. A bridge is crossed to follow the river back to the Car Park.
(It is possible to travel by bus to Alresford - A 66 bus leaves Romsey at 9.00 to arrive at Winchester Bus Station at 9.44. A 64 bus leaves Winchester Bus Station at 9.45 and arrives at Arlebury Car Park at 10.01. If late, leave the 66 bus at the Job Centre and pick up the 64 bus at the Arc.)

Meet at 10am in the main car park at Fritham (SU230140) by the barrier for the footpath heading south west. This is a 5.25 mile walk heading across Fritham Plain, past Holly Hatch, and returning via Cadman’s Pool. Option of lunch after at the Green Dragon, Brook. A walk to Studley Castle, site of hunting lodge commissioned by Edward III in 1358. Led by Professor Roger Leech. Meet at 6.00pm [sunset is about 8.10pm] at the car park at Bramshaw Telegraph on the B3078 from Cadnam to Fordingbridge, just east of the junction with the B3080 road to Fordingbridge, at Grid Reference SU 2283 1665. The walk is about ½ mile in each direction.
