TALK: Winter Wildlife of the New Forest

Our first talk of 2026 will be a fascinating insight into the New Forest in winter.
Winter can be one of the most rewarding times to watch birds in the New Forest. In this image-rich talk, Marcus showcases the rich variety of species that make the Forest their home or winter refuge and the stories behind some of our most charismatic winter visitors. The talk will be full of practical advice and beautiful photography, suitable for birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts of all levels.
This talk will be free for RDS members, but it has been decided that from now on we should make a charge of £5 for each non-member, payable on the night.
With membership of RDS only £10 pp pa, membership is even more advantageous!

Marcus is a lifelong naturalist with special interests in birds, mammals, moths and fungi.
He is well known for his work with Hawfinch as well as leading the Pine Marten project in the New Forest. He is also a bird-ringing trainer, running a team of 12 ringers , so is very well acquainted with the birds of the New Forest.
