Graduate-Level Course Development
I have been a trailblazer in academia, consistently innovating in course development and instruction. As the director of the Public Health Nutrition course at Aga Khan University, I crafted a forward-thinking curriculum covering contemporary public health nutrition issues, currently offered to MPH students. In 2018, I introduced the Nutrition and NCD Epidemiology course, emphasizing nutrition assessment methodologies and the relevance of NCDs in the region. My role as course director for Nutrition Epidemiology from 2007 to 2017 further underscored my commitment to education. Additionally, I designed and taught the Non-Communicable Disease Epidemiology course from 2012 to 2017. These initiatives reflect my dedication to innovative education in public health and epidemiology, preparing students for dynamic challenges in the field.

I have vast experience in developing and facilitating diverse short courses and workshops to foster knowledge and skills in various fields. Notable initiatives include creating courses like “How to Access, Interpret and Report Health Literature to the General Public for Media Professionals (AIR),” aimed at improving health reporting. I have directed workshops on manuscript writing, grant writing, and NCD prevention and management. Additionally, I revamped nutrition offerings on inpatient care for PGME trainees and led workshops on obesity management, clinical trials, and nutrition epidemiology. Recently, I collaborated with the University of Alabama, USA, to offer “Grant Writing for Midcareer Researchers” and am currently working on a series of short courses on nutrition with international collaborators such as the UK Nutrition Society and the American Society of Nutrition. These initiatives demonstrate my commitment to advancing knowledge in public health and promoting interdisciplinary and international collaborations.
Graduate-Level Program Development
I have spearheaded the development of transformative graduate-level programs, such as the Clinical Research Track, which was approved and initiated under the auspices of the Board of Graduate Studies at Aga Khan University. Additionally, I successfully designed the MSc Public Health Nutrition program, which received approval from the Board of Graduate Studies. However, it was not initiated due to a subsequent university decision. My commitment to pioneering educational initiatives underscores my dedication to preparing students for the ever-evolving challenges of the modern world.
