Numerous company internal certifications for technical training delivery and workshop facilitation
The vast majority of my professional career has been in learning and development. In my early career, I was a graphic designer. After I gained some seniority, the company asked me to train clients on the design system that we sold. I analyzed learner needs, designed presentations, developed workbooks and activities, taught multi-day workshops, and followed up with learners to evaluate their progress. I didn’t know it at the time, but what I did during this training role was the formalized process of Instructional Design. The process made intuitive sense to me, and I would later learn that I was roughly following the ADDIE model without realizing it (the concept was created by the Center for Educational Technology at Florida State University for the U.S. Army).
I was delivering web-based, interactive virtual training sessions for many years before some organizations embraced virtual learning. Ever since, I have worked in learning and development, whether in the local public school system, or for the world’s largest global corporations. My continuing mission is to create learning that is effective, engaging, and that directly supports the goals of the organization and the aspirations of the learner.
