Chief Superintendent (of school mathematics)

A school-level supervisor of all aspects of mathematics education (AKA subject coordinator, Lit. Rakaz [male]/Rakezet [female]).

Facilitator

A professional development facilitator coordinates, develops, and leads courses and programs for teachers.

Levels of study

The current Israeli secondary school graduation examination comprises three levels – Basic (3 units), Intermediate (4 units), and Advanced (5 units). A fourth, higher level is in development – Advanced-plus level (5 plus-plus).

School Growth and Efficiency Measures

Pre-academic studies

מכינה קדם־אקדמית

An educational program aimed at preparing high school graduates for study at an academic institution (Lit. Mechina).

Psychometric Entrance Test

מבחן פסיכומטרי

A standardized test covering three areas – mathematics, verbal reasoning, and English proficiency. It is a prerequisite for higher education in Israel (AKA The psychometric).

Secondary School

בית ספר על־יסודי (חטיבת ביניים + תיכון)

A collective name for Middle and High School (i.e., grades 7-12).

Secondary school graduation certificate

תעודת בגרות

A certificate attesting to a successful completion of the Israeli education system. It is typically a prerequisite for higher education in Israel (AKA Matriculation certificate, or Bagrut certificate).

Secondary school graduation examination

בחינת בגרות

A collection of matriculation exams covering various academic disciplines. A passing grade in these exams is required for eligibility to receive certification (Lit. Bagrut exams).

State Comptroller’s Report

The State Comptroller of Israel supervises and inspects all government bodies, the military and security services, and corporations, focusing on legality, efficiency, economy, ethics, and regularity issues (Lit. Duach Mevaker HaMedina).

A member of the supervision team at the Ministry of Education, either at the national, district, or school level (Lit. Madrich Morim Artzi/Mehozi/Beit-Sifri).

The trade union and profession association for teachers and educators in Israel (Lit. Irgun HaMorim).

Teaching certification program for those holding an academic degree
