I had the incredible opportunity to attend the AOTA Inspire 2024 national conference in Orlando, FL. I attended several amazing classes, listed below. I made connections with some vendors at the Expo, where I learned about some of the new and well-tested products that can help clients of varying needs and situations. One such product was a set of large connecting tiles that allow an event coordinator to make any ground mobility-aid friendly without the need to dig up the ground or lay concrete. I loved seeing the ingenuity of creators who have people and function in mind as their first priority.
In the courses I attended, I learned about recent research and applications in various fields of practice. My goal was to dip my toes into a few different areas that I have some interest in and make connections in those fields. I learned about the unique needs of rural OT, the need for OT in the 6 weeks post-partum, the effectiveness of LSVT BIG in areas beyond Parkinson's disease, and more! I loved every class and came away with a wider view and understanding of OT. I plan to follow up specifically with LSVT BIG and their training series and to connect with Occupational Therapists for Environmental Action this summer. I'm so excited to learn more!!
