Individual therapy provides children and teens with a supportive space to work through challenges, better understand themselves, and develop skills they can use in everyday life.
There isn't a set formula for what happens in a therapy session. I tailor sessions to each child's age, developmental level, personality, and goals.
For some children, therapy may involve games, drawing, creative activities, or other hands-on ways of exploring thoughts and feelings. Teens may spend more time talking and reflecting, while also working on practical strategies for managing challenges outside of therapy.
Throughout the process, we work together to identify what's getting in the way and find realistic ways to move forward. This might mean learning how to recognize and manage emotions, developing strategies for organization and follow-through, working through difficult experiences, or building confidence and self-understanding.
Parents may also be involved through periodic check-ins and collaboration around goals and strategies, while maintaining an appropriate space for the child or teen to develop their own therapeutic relationship.
I accept insurance and offer private-pay options. Insurance coverage varies by plan, so I recommend confirming your specific mental health benefits with your insurance provider.
