Cadets on the Orienteering Team use maps, compasses, and their knowledge of the terrain to navigate through unfamiliar areas, finding specific checkpoints along a set course. The goal is to complete the course in the shortest time possible while demonstrating accuracy in navigation. Orienteering competitions require cadets to work both individually and in teams, testing their ability to think critically, make decisions under pressure, and work together. It also fosters leadership, endurance, and resilience as cadets navigate through various outdoor environments. Orienteering is a valuable skill that builds teamwork, strategic thinking, and an appreciation for outdoor activities.
