The natural world has always been made up of immeasurably deep connections between many things, and people meet and part in mysterious ways in this world. We, Japanese, generally express gratitude for these fateful connections with the word 縁(En). 

The Year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Sultanate of Oman. We titled this exhibition as En to celebrate and thank for the special En between Japan and Oman. 

We hope the words and phrases that spell out from our various thoughts and feelings will resonate with everyone through our brush strokes.

自然界はあらゆるものの計り知れない深い繋がりによって成り立ち、その中で人々は不思議な出会いや別れを繰り返します。私たち日本人は、これを総じて「ご縁」と呼び、生活の中で運命的な出会いや出来事に遭遇する度に「ご縁」という言葉で感謝を表してきました。

そんな「縁」を題材とした日本オマーン国交50周年記念書展では、人々の様々な思いを綴る言葉を筆線に託し、縁で繋がった日本とオマーンの記念すべき1年を祝します。

雄峰と青漣の魂のこもったパフォーマンスが皆様の心に響くことを願っています。

The Year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Sultanate of Oman. In celebration of this landmark year, we have been invited to Oman by the Embassy of Japan in the Sultanate of Oman. The exhibition was held from December 5th to 10th, and many people gathered to see our performance. We are thankful for all of you who visited and shared feelings with us. 

2022年、日本とオマーンは国交50周年を迎えました。その記念行事として在日本オマーン大使から招聘を受け、川口雄峰と青漣が書の個展「縁」をオマーン国首都マスカットで開催しました。個展は、12月5日〜10日の5日間にわたって開催され、多くの方々に来ていただきました。個展へ足を運んでいただき、私たちと書を通して繋がってくださった皆様に心より感謝申し上げます。

Ingrid Van Der Heyden is a visual artist from Belgium, whose artistic activities we respect and admire. Ingrid's abstract work of art is made with ink and paper, gesso, gauze, and glue under the theme of nesting. She uses mark making and lines to passionately express reconnection with natural forces.

Our collaboration explores new artistic possibilities by combining calligraphic imagery and techniques with modern form of conceptual and performance art.

イングリッド・ヴァン・ダー・ヘイデンは、ベルギー出身のビジュアルアーティストであり、私たちが尊敬し憧れる芸術家の一人です。彼女の作品には、墨や紙、膠(にかわ)と石膏(せっこう)を混ぜ合わせた塗料、ガーゼ、のりなどが使われており、点や線を描きながら、自然との融合を表現した作品を生み出しています。

今回の個展では、イングリッドとコラボもしており、日本の古典的な書と西洋の自然を表現した芸術を組み合わせることで新たな芸術を生み出します。
