For this project, I was tasked with building my dream PC using websites like Amazon and PCPartPicker.com, with a budget of $1,300. As a self-proclaimed shopaholic, I loved shopping around for the best price and performance for each component. The goal was to deepen my understanding of the parts that make up a computer and how they work together. This assignment quickly became one of my favorites because it combined familiarity with novelty. I’ve always been fascinated by computers and had a basic understanding of how they function, but actually building one allowed me to see how all the parts fit together.
By building my dream computer, I discovered the vast array of brands for CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, and more. I had no idea there were so many options to choose from! I was also surprised to learn that you can buy separate parts and build your own computer; I thought you could only purchase a complete one at Best Buy. As I mentioned earlier, I enjoyed exploring online to find different components, envisioning potential replacements for when my MacBook eventually gives out!
