I think I could cut back and not make it the first thing I do when I wake up. When the question asked if social media has affected my mood it certainly has. I rember scrolling on TikTok and seeing a video of a man mistreating his dog and that bothered me for days. I could not get that video out of my mind, watching how terrified his dog was. I have also seen TikTok's of mothers who have lost their children and I cry my eyes out watching it, then that stays on my mind for days.
I believe that social media has had a detrimental effect on beauty standards. Young, influential people can observe the photoshopped images and surgically-enhanced bodies of celebrities and assume that these are the ideals they must strive for. The unrealistic beauty standards can be damaging to impressionable youngsters, as many celebrities have the financial means and resources to craft an image of themselves that they would like to portray, even if it is far from natural.
I personally am not surprised by this chart above, I think more people are opening their eyes and really seeing the impact social media has.
