Emeline Whittle was born March 7, 1845 in Nauvoo, Illinois to Thomas Levi and Mary Amelia Fulmer Whittle. Emeline is the mother of Charles Zera Harris.
Soon after Emeline was born, the Whittle family were forced out of Nauvoo, Illinois and moved to Winter Quarters, Nebraska Territory. The Whittle family joined the Heber C. Kimball Company on June 7, 1848 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 24. During their time in Salt Lake, no history about Emeline was recorded.
The Whittle family moved to Richmond in 1860. The following year, Emeline married William McGee Harris on Aug 20, in Richmond. The Harris family lived in the Richmond Fort until 1862 when they moved into the "Old Fort." They lived in the fort until 1864 when they moved on the north side of Richmond and built a brick home.
After William's death in 1903, Emeline moved in with her daughter Emma and had her apartment in the home where she remained the rest of her life.
Emeline Whittle died April 6, 1931 in Richmond. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
