Harris Shannon Stephenson was born Oct 13, 1838 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Isaac Henderson and May Pugh Stephenson. Harris is a Pioneer of Richmond.
Before Harris was born, the Stephenson family were converted the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While living in Nauvoo, Illinois, Harris' mother died, and he was put in the care of an aunt. The exact company that Harris traveled with to get to Utah is unknown.
Harris married Esabella Sproul on Oct 4, 1862 in Salt Lake City, Utah. That same year, the Stephenson's moved to Richmond. Also living in Richmond were his siblings, Martha Jane and Francis Marion, along with their aunts, Susan and Elizabeth Caroline Pugh, and their grandma, Martha Harris.
"He was a man of sound judgment, unquestionable honesty, his word was his bond, truthful to a fault, never let his left hand know what his right did.
"...He was a carpenter by trade and did much work for missionaries wives while they were away and would say that was nothing when they wanted to pay him."
In 1880, the Stephenson family moved to Lewiston, Utah.
Harris Shannon Stephenson died Aug 31, 1895 in Lewiston, Utah. He was buried in the Lewiston Cemetery.
