Emma Lois Barnett was born March 17, 1841 in Staffordshire, England to John and Eliza Cranage Barnett. Emma is a Pioneer of Richmond.
In 1850, the Barnett family was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"When [Grandmother Eliza] was investigating the Doctrines of Mormonism, she became very much interested in the scriptures and would often get out her Bible to read and explain to her husband the things she had heard the Mormon Elders talk of the meetings she had attended.
"My mother Emma then a child would slip out at night to hear the Elders who were in the neighborhood, and to whom her father was very much opposed; however he also became converted and joined the church."1
Soon after, they began preparations to move to the United States to live among the other Saints. The Barnett family sailed on the Siddons on Feb 27, 1855 from Liverpool and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 22.
While in Philadelphia, Emma met Joseph Wright. They were married on June 3, 1858 in Philadelphia. The Wright family stayed in Philadelphia until 1861. They joined the Milo Andrus Company July 7 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 12. Soon after, they moved to Richmond where Joseph's brother William Henry was living.
In 1869, the Wright family moved to Ogden, Utah where Joseph opened one of the first butcher shops in the city.
Emma Lois Barnett died Sep 16, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. She was buried in the Ogden, Utah Cemetery.
