Eliza Cranage was born June 3, 1819 in Wednesbury, England to Thomas and Phoebe Collins Carnage. Eliza is a Pioneer of Richmond.
The early history of Eliza is unknown. Eliza married John Barnett on July 1, 1839 in Aston Juxta Birmingham, England.
The Barnett family was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day in January 1850. Soon after, they began preparations to move to the United States to live among the other Saints. The Barnett family sailed on the Siddons on Feb 27, 1855 from Liverpool and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 22.
The Barnett family stayed in Philadelphia in order to have the means to move west. They made the means by 1860, and joined the Jesse Murphy Company on June 19, arriving in the Salt Lake Valley on Aug 30. They lived in Salt Lake City until 1863 when they moved to Richmond where his daughter Emma Lois and son-in-law Joseph Write were living.
When the Relief Society of the Benson Stake was organized in 1868, Eliza was called the Second Councilor of the Presidency and served until 1879.2 In 1877, John died in Richmond. Eliza was tasked to raise her family by herself.
Eliza Cranage died Feb 12, 1898 in Ogden, Utah at the home of her daughter Emma Lois. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
