Eli Webb and Helena Ashment were married May 6, 1872 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah. The young family were part of the Richmond Pioneers of the Webb Family and Ashment Family. They built their first home at 272 North 300 East in Richmond before constructing their newer home on State Street in 1898.
The construction of the home began in 1898. The family moved into the home in the spring of 1900. The house consisted of four rooms and a large granary. Lucy Irene Webb, their daughter, remembers their new home after plumbing was added:
"How well I remember when father, Newel Bullen, Wallace Burnham Jr., James Bateman, John Stoddard and William Smith built a reservoir around a spring with was located east of Matthew Bell's home and piped the water to their different homes. We didn't have to pump water any more and we could have a large bath tube in place of the round was tub to bath in plenty of hot water. There was also a sink to wash the dishes in. Then came the trouble of converting father to putting a toilet in the bathroom. That was the worth thing he had ever heard of. Putting such a thing in the house; but with all of us in favor of it he finally gave in. He would never use it though, until it became to far to walk to the little pink house where Aunt Jemima was advertising her pancake syrup and there was a Sears and Roebuck catalog to look at. The piping of the water to the homes mentioned above was done years before the rest of the town had this convenience."
Due to its size, many members of the Ashment extended family resided in the home. Mary Ann Mills, Helena's aunt, lived with them until her death in 1909. Helena's sister, Mary Ashment, lived with them until she died in 1926.
After the 1962 earthquake, the home sustained considerable damage, but was restored. Sometime in the 1980's the home was restored to its pioneer look.
After the death of Eli and Helena, the home was later passed on to their son, James Walter Webb, then to his son, Albert Leon Webb. The most recent history of the homeowners is Douglas F. & Christeen A. White, who owned the home from 1983 - 2016, and then in 2016, the current owners of the home purchased it.
