Helena Ashment

About

Helena Ashment was born Jan 19, 1852 in Crewkeerne, England to Thomas Sr. and Anne Huggins Ashment.

History

At the early age of 7, Helena worked for a family in England as a caretaker. She did this up until the employer began shunning her because of her belief in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she stopped working for him. In Oct of 1869, the Ashment family began their journey to Utah. After their arrival, the family was invited to move to Richmond, however, Helena stayed in the Salt Lake Valley to work. She moved to Richmond in 1870 where she met Eli Webb. They were married on May 6, 1872 in the Endowment House and had 11 children.

After their move to Richmond, they built a home on 300 East, then another home on State Street. Both are still around.
