The East Bay Bike Path stretches 14 miles from Bristol to Providence, Rhode Island. Beginning in Bristol near Colt State Park, the trail the scenic Mill Pond and Narragansett Bay. Runners travel through the wooded and residential areas in the towns of Warren and Barrington. This inland section features the Barrington and Warren Rivers as well as marshes, ponds and coves. There are very few people and commotions in this section, allowing for some quiet time.
Further North, Barrinton boasts its Haines Memorial State Park, which runners can enter from the path. Soon after, the path reunites its runners with the gleaming Narragansett Bay, and the remaining portion of the trail parallels the shore. The path intertwines with Sabin Point Park, Squantum Woods State Park, and Crescent Park before crossing the bustling Washington Bridge. On the bridge, the George Redman Linear Park allows for a safe passage for runners and cyclists. There is a safe delineation between the path and the road as it leaps over the Seekonk River. Across the bridge, people commute to work, walk with their children, or are out for a run.
The path ends at India Point Park, the most scenic of the entire journey. The final portion of the path provides a picture view of Rhode Island. Runners can admire the gaping harbor as well as the sailboats and variety of birds that inhabit it. An ocean breeze refreshes the people on the shore.
In terms of terrain, this rail-trail-turned-bike-path exhibits perfectly paved asphalt. There are no tree roots, cracks, or obstuctions awaiting accidents. This allows for a safe path for people of all ages.
Along the entire length of the East Bay Bike Path, there is never a lack of excitement. The scenery seems practically dynamic as it transitions from natural to commercial and from tranquil to booming.
