LaTeX

LaTeX is a popular type-setting system to create technical and scientific documentation.

To start using LaTeX, you need to download the engine

Free LaTeX Editors

  • Eclipse. You can choose any variant of Eclipse that you want but I have personally tried Eclipse Classic and Eclipse IDE for C/C++. You then need to install TeXlipse to link LaTeX with Eclipse.

  • Notepad++. See this link on how to link LaTeX with Notepad++.

  • TeXShop (Mac)

Free PDF Viewers

  • SumatraPDF. When you convert your LaTeX source to PDF, this editor will automatically refresh its content without having to close the PDF file. If your are using Acrobat Reader, you need to close the program first, and then relaunch to view the latest edit.

Collaborative LaTeX Tools

  • Overleaf - online collaborative LaTeX editor

  • ShareLaTeX - online collaborative LaTeX editor

  • TrackChanges - offline collaborative editing of LaTeX documents
