The mission of Aurora Seed Farm (ASF) is to provide acclimatized seed to home and community gardeners of Aurora, Colorado. Our mission is achieved as a primary partner and contributor to the Aurora Seed Library and through independent seed distribution, at no cost. Aurora Seed Farm upholds the values of food sovereignty, local food production, and community interdependence.
ASF grows culturally relevant food and flowers for the Aurora Seed Library and produce not chosen for seed harvest is sold or donated within the northwest boundaries of Aurora. Located at Nome Park Community Garden, Aurora Seed Farm feeds its neighborhood as the largest contributor to the Nome Park Community Garden pay-what-you-can Farm Stand. ASF provides free experiential garden classes to home and community gardeners covering topics from soil preparation, pruning & pinching, pest identification and management, and seed harvesting & cleaning.
By partnering with the Aurora Public Library, we have created a space for the Aurora Seed Library, where Aurora's community can "borrow" seeds for their garden, with the intention to bring harvested seeds from their home or community garden. To further support the seed library with seeds that are uniquely specialized to Aurora's growing conditions, we are started a seed farm at Nome Community Garden, in the heart of Aurora. The fruit not chosen for seed will be sold at a "pay what you can" market.
