Mark Ratterman started his real estate career in 1978 as a real estate broker in Indianapolis. After one year, he moved into appraisal work. He has been a Realtor® member of the Association of Realtors since 1978 and now is Realtor Emeritus status. He served on the Board of Directors of the local Board of Realtors (MIBOR) in 2017-2019. 

He received the Senior Residential Appraiser (SRA) designation in 1982, the Senior Real Property Appraiser (SRPA) designation in 1989 and the Member American Institute (MAI) in 1990. He obtained the State Certified General Appraiser credential in 1991. 

Mark Ratterman is the Central Indiana member of the Indiana Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board which is the five member board responsible for the State appraiser’s licensing and certification program. He started on this Board in 2014. He is also a member of the Hendricks County Property Tax Assessment Board of Appeals (PTBOA). 

He is the author of 12 books published by the Appraisal Institute, of which about 10 are still available on Amazon and other book sellers. He is working on book #13 which is scheduled for publication in 2024. 

His work is now primarily in commercial and industrial properties.
