Participation & Expectations
Families should recognize that the Musical Theatre Club requires a high level of commitment. Families will receive access to materials and files and may need to support and encourage your kids to practice in between rehearsals. We do not expect kids to be expert actors, singers or dancers, but they must be interested in musical theatre and able to:
Attend all rehearsals for their role
Memorize lines and access the program website to practice their songs and dances in between rehearsal dates
Stay focused and take direction from our directors and parent volunteers
Behave respectfully toward fellow members of the cast
Adhere to the same behavior standards during Musical Theatre as are expected in class during the school day
As a group at the first rehearsal we will develop cast and crew expectations.
Rehearsal Attendance
Theatre is a team sport—and we rely on our fellow teammates to succeed and grow! That said, it’s extremely important that our actors show up on time and prepared for every rehearsal for which they are called. Planned absences or absences due to illness are totally fine! We just ask that you communicate any absences due to illness, trips, or anticipated conflicts prior to the start of each rehearsal (it’s important to how we plan the session!). However, If a student repeatedly misses rehearsal without explanation or chooses to ignore the participation expectations, we reserve the right to reassign their role to an understudy.
