Performing Matilda the Musical Jr!

We are so close to our performance dates and I am getting more excited with each rehearsal! 

We still have work to do this week and will be incorporating the many tech elements that have been in the works behind the scenes by the tech crews and leaders.

Tech Week Schedule

All performers are called for all tech rehearsals. I request that performers prioritize rehearsals this week over other activities and plan to attend all three full rehearsals. Having everyone at all tech rehearsals is key to the success of the show. Due to the MLK holiday, we will be rehearsing on Thursday instead of Monday.

• Tuesday 1/16 - 4pm-7pm - ALL CALLED

• Wednesday 1/17 - 2:45pm-6pm - ALL CALLED

• Thursday 1/18 - 4pm-8pm - ALL CALLED

• Friday 1/19 - 4pm-6pm - Leads only - If needed

As you can see the rehearsals are generally longer than previous weeks. If you and or your family could donate snacks for the Tuesday and Wednesday rehearsals, that would be greatly appreciated. You can send them with your young performer in the morning or drop them off at rehearsal time. Please let me know if you have capacity to donate snacks for tech week rehearsals. We have 40 kids in the cast for planning purposes.

We will provide pizza for everyone for the Thursday rehearsal. Please let me know if you, or your child, have dietary restrictions that we should take into account when ordering pizza.

Finally, there will be more downtime as we work out some of the technical details of the production. Performers should be prepared to rehearse or otherwise quietly occupy themselves during their downtime between their moments on stage.

Costume Reminders

We will be wearing costumes from here on out. Every rehearsal will be a dress rehearsal. 

Please remember to:

• Wear black base layers & dark shoes that you can dance in

• Bring any additional costume pieces on Tuesday

• No eating in costumes - If you are going to eat something, 

  1. You must remove your costume

  2. It must be at one of the Commons tables

  3. You may eat in your base layers

Practice at Home

Knowing your material: lines, lyrics, vocal parts, and choreography well will lead to a much smoother rehearsal process. Please support and encourage performers to spend some time reviewing using this website or gettign together with fellow cast members!

Performance Schedule

Leads will be called 90 minutes before each show to put on and test their body mics. We are still determining who will be wearing body mics. The kids will know by the end of the week who will be called early for mic checks. Everyone else will be called 75 minutes before show time. Warm Up will begin in the dance room 60 minutes before showtime. Finally, the house will be open 30 minutes before show time.

Wednesday, January 24th, 7PM

9/25 (8th graders), 9/26 (6th and 7th), 9/27 (6th and 7th): Callbacks

10/3: Rehearsals begin

Tuesdays: 4-6 PM

Wednesdays: 2:45-6 PM

Fridays (not all actors): 4-5:30 PM (no Fridays in January so not to conflict with ski bus)

No rehearsals will be held on the following days: 10/13, 10/31, 11/22, 11/24, or 12/15
