Developing Safe & Healthy Homes
Residence halls are a student’s primary home while on LMU’s campus. We understand that living in a safe and healthy environment contributes to the holistic well-being, development, and success of our students. Our goal is to develop communities where students are free from distractions or concerns that would impact their overall academic success.
Promoting Persistence & Retention
We recognize that the main goal of attending a post-secondary institution is knowledge attainment and other academic pursuits. Our goal is to create communities where students feel like they belong and are a valued member of the LMU student body, therefore, contributing to a student’s likelihood of remaining at the institution.
Fostering Inclusive Communities
College allows students to be surrounded by peers who bring a variety of life experiences and identities. A primary value of the Office of Residence Life is creating spaces for every student, regardless of who they are or where they come from. However, we are committed to going beyond creating space, but ensuring that students feel supported and safe while engaging all students in conversations that promote a better understanding of the world outside of LMU’s campus.
Broadening the Academic Learning Experience
While a majority of learning in college takes place in the classroom, the entire LMU campus is considered the learning environment. Through meaningful collaboration with a wide array of faculty from various disciplines, the Office of Residence Life promotes academic learning within residential communities, outside of the classroom.
Supporting the Creation of Healthy & Meaningful, Stable Connections
It is imperative that students develop healthy, meaningful, and stable connections with their peers, faculty, and staff while in college. The Office of Residence Life works to develop our students’ understanding of how to create these connections during their time at LMU and beyond.
Guiding the Evolution Into Adulthood
When most students begin college, they are still evolving as individuals and working to discover who they truly are - that evolution can be difficult. The Office of Residential Housing is ready and able to join students in their journey toward adulthood and provide valuable lessons and insight that will assist in a smoother transition to adult living.
