Resident Assistant committees serve as an extension of the Office of Residential Housing’s mission, allowing RAs to contribute to departmental initiatives while gaining experience in areas aligned with their interests and strengths. Each committee is led by a Graduate Housing Coordinator and includes RAs assigned by the Director of Residence Life. Committees meet regularly—no less than once per month—and are essential in driving innovation, efficiency, and collaboration across the department.
Departmental Programming Committee
This committee is responsible for planning and implementing large-scale, campus-wide events sponsored by the Office of Residential Housing. Members collaborate to create engaging, inclusive, and purposeful programs that build community, promote student involvement, and support the Cornerstones of Success.
Social Media & Engagement Committee
Focused on digital outreach and community connection, this committee manages the department’s social media presence and engagement strategies. Members create content, promote upcoming events, highlight RA initiatives, and work to increase the visibility of Residential Housing across campus platforms.
Celebrations Committee
The Celebrations Committee is all about recognition and team morale. This group organizes staff appreciation efforts, birthday and milestone acknowledgments, and other creative ways to celebrate the contributions of RAs and professional staff. Their goal is to foster a positive and supportive work environment.
Professional Development Committee
This committee is dedicated to the personal and professional growth of the RA staff. Members plan development workshops, training refreshers, and opportunities for skill-building throughout the year. The committee also explores ways to connect RAs to leadership opportunities and resources beyond the department.
Staff Recruitment Committee
Tasked with supporting the RA recruitment and selection process, this committee assists in promoting the RA position, planning information sessions, reviewing applications, and participating in interview days. Members help shape the future of the RA team by identifying and encouraging strong candidates who align with the department’s values.
